Conventional Trays Portfolio

Globtech Engineers offers several different valve types, both movable and fixed, to suit individual applications. From standard movable round and rectangular valves to different variety of propriety fixed valves, Globtech offers a complete valve tray portfolio that can be tailored to individual applications to maximize both capacity and separation performance while ensuring economical solutions. Our engineers deliver these results by integrating its application expertise, engineering knowledge and quality manufacturing techniques. We also offers various types of High Capacity trays to maximize column capacity without losing any separation performance.

Sieve Tray

Sieve trays are conventional fractionation trays with perforated active decks, typically employing 13 mm holes. Other hole size varying between 6 mm to 25 mm can also be used based on application. Typically they have less capacity than conventional valve trays with similar efficiency. Standard operating range is 2:1 but can be extended to 2.5:1 at expense of slightly higher pressure drop. Cost lower than conventional movable trays but similar to fixed valve trays.

Bubble Cap Tray

They are typically employed in applications with very low liquid rate and or where large operating range of 10:1 are required. They are also useful when high residence time is called such as on reaction trays.

Caps can come in varying size between 3” to 6” in both slotted or un-slotted construction. This design has lower capacity, lower efficiency and higher pressure drop when compared to conventional valve trays and sieve trays with cost typically in range of 2.5 to 3 times.

Conventional Valve Tray

Valve trays have been an industry work horse with almost 80%+ of tray columns having some type of valve trays installed in them. When compared to bubble cap trays, valve trays provide several advantages such as higher capacity, higher efficiency, good fouling resistance and lower pressure drop. When compared to sieve trays, valve trays provide lateral vapor release, leading to lower entrainment, higher capacity and a wider operating range.

Baffle Tray

responsive design

Baffle trays are typically employed in heavy oil refining and or petrochemical heat transfer applications having high solid and or fouling potential. Trays are equipped with high open area in the range of 40%-50% and normally applied where fouling resistance is more critical than separation performance. Liquid splash from (upper) baffle / deck to another (lower) deck while separation and or heat transfer occurs with ascending vapor passing the falling curtain of liquid. Typical applications are slurry PA of FCC Main fractionator, wash section of Coker fractionators and bottom section of oil quench columns in Olefin plants.
